Chez l'ostéo LOGO

Osteopathy is an approach that aims to discover the different mobility deficits of the body, which can be at the origin of your pain. It then strives to normalize them through targeted manual techniques based on thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and pathologies of the human being.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

This is the most classic and popular technique in the West.

Swedish massage is a series of maneuvers applied to the muscles or joints to restore tired, sluggish, or inhibited muscles.

It aims to maximize the body's capacity for action, improve blood circulation by promoting the return of blood to the heart, and enhance lymphatic circulation, nutrition, and cellular elimination.

Swedish massage harmonizes tensions and stimulates the person's self-regulating functions by activating their self-healing power. It is an excellent stress management tool!

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a technique that consists of gripping and stretching the tissues to release the deep muscle fibres between the different layers of muscles and fascias, as well as the postural muscles. This method is frequently used in clinical massage therapy, physiotherapy and orthotherapy. With a therapeutic scope of action, deep tissue massage excels in muscle relaxation and improvement of locomotor problems. When properly performed, it can also lead to relaxation.

Deep tissue massage follows the same protocol as other massage therapy techniques. The main difference is in the execution: the pace is much slower to encourage penetration through the muscle layers.

Similarly, the strength of the manoeuvres is progressive in order to warm up the muscles and avoid spasms. The therapist will probably use various joints or contact surfaces in the application of his or her massage manoeuvres to take it easy.

foot reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle manual technique based on the principle that our feet and hands are mirror images of our body. The approach aims to apply pressure on reflex points on the feet (foot reflexology) and hands (palm reflexology) in order to activate the body’s self-healing processes and thus encourage the body to return to a state of balance.

Also called reflex zones, these points are associated with specific organ functions or organs. They can be found on the feet, hands and ears, among others. There are detailed maps of the different reflex points according to the region (feet, hands, ears, etc.).

By applying pressure to a given reflex point, it is possible to have an effect on the associated area of the body in order to relieve the tensions or imbalances that are present there. For example, the therapist might work on reflex points on the foot related to the colon. This will stimulate bowel activity to improve digestion.

lomi lomi massage

The word lomi lomi (pronounced loumi loumi) means “massage” or “massaging” in Hawaiian. There, on the Hawaiian Islands, this massage is traditionally practiced in several techniques that differ from those known in America in that they use the forearms systematically.

"Lomi lomi nui (pronounced noui), which means “great massage”, is a well-known Western technique. It is characterised by fluid movements that mimic the flow of waves in the ocean. The manoeuvres are carried out mainly with the forearms, but also with the hands and elbows. The effects of this massage are profound, even transformational, in that they promote awareness and balance of body and mind.

Lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage, or manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle massage therapy technique that aims to stimulate the circulation of lymph in the body and thus promote the elimination of waste and toxins.

The technique consists of applying superficial circular pressure on the skin with the fingers and the palm of the hands. These pressures follow the path of the lymphatic vessels and the direction of the circulation of the lymph and thus allow the lymph to circulate better in the body.
